Es la década de los 80’s, y la familia se sostiene de regentar una cantina. Están envueltas en un rumor: que tienen una maldición que hace que cualquier hombre caiga enfermo de muerte si las mira a los ojos y se enamora de ellas. Esta “peste”, como la ha llamado el pueblo, pondrá la vida de todas las mujeres de la familia en riesgo y las obligará a buscar nuevas formas de protegerse contra el machismo, la ignorancia y la enfermedad. ------- Diego Céspedes / Chile 2025 / 110 min Lidia, an 11-year-old Chilean girl, lives in an isolated small mining town in the middle of the desert with her mother, grandmother, and aunts—all of them transgender women. It is the 1980s, and the family survives by running a cantina. They are surrounded by a rumor: that they carry a curse that causes any man who looks into their eyes and falls in love with them to become fatally ill. This “plague,” as the town has called it, will put the lives of all the women in the family at risk and force them to find new ways to protect themselves against machismo, ignorance, and disease.
